The Infidelity Playlist
There is a playlist I have always wanted to make but never had time to curate: The Infidelity Playlist.
I have so many songs in my Spotify library about infidelity that I feel I could probably run a radio show about them. But instead I'll just write this blog entry for my favourite songs about infidelity from this past decade, starting with my very but very favouritest song, Fucking Around on You.
Oh the glory of this tune! It's unclear whether the protagonist is actually cheating or is just getting off on some people they follow on Instagram. I figure that whomever they're fantasizing about is not of the same gender as their current partner. I'm guessing that the protagonist can no longer open up Instagram on public transit because their feed is full of lounging half-naked sweaty bodies. Or fan art. Or furries.
Either way, let's crank it up and give it a listen! Please note that the video is not safe for work or public transit.
And now for something slightly different and much cheekier, MNEK's Girlfriend, a song told from the perspective of the side piece. Yes, MNEK is the cheater's secret: the cheater has a girlfriend, and he also has a boyfriend on the side. And the song is pretty hilarious to be honest.
Please enjoy the video, which is safe for work and public transit assuming you are comfortable in your sexuality, and features some fantastic makeup work and styling, but some abysmal baking. Like food baking, not makeup baking.
Hey remember when everyone thought that this song was Calvin Harris shading Taylor Swift for cheating on him with Tom Hiddleston? No? Well it's a cool summer jam anyways.
We continue with the POV of the Nasty Little Secrets with Tearing Me Up by Bob Moses. I'm not entirely sure what's going on in this narrative. It feels a bit Age of Innocence-y where the dude thinks the married woman is coming on to him, but maaaaaaaaybe not? Anyways, it's a good hot humid summer night song to blast in your car obnoxiously at 2am.
So I have no idea what Kpop songs are about normally because, you know, Korean, but thanks to the whole thing with English Kpop songs, I can now finally know what filthy things they're all singing about. OK to be fair I do look up lyrics to Kpop songs, and most are not about being unfaithful; most of them are about lurrrrrrve, though quite a few of them are about getting it on. I refer to those as "Music for Sluts" because they are very slutty. Monsta X, despite performing in a variety of sheer lace tops and leather harnesses, and having a sound that could be described as "hard" for Kpop, do not generally dabble in Music for Sluts. However, in English they do dabble in "I am fucking your girlfriend". Or maybe it's "This girl is fucking all of us and we need to know which one she likes best because we're really competitive"? Anyways, a fun bop all round — though it would have been better without French Montana.
Finally — because I'm getting kinda tired (sorry I write this after work and I'm not the most awake then) — With You by Flight Facilities. They are both married and should not be doing what they are doing!
And with that I bid you a good night!
